Why Seymour

Welcome to the town of Seymour. We are conveniently located twenty minutes from Bridgeport, New Haven, and Waterbury. Route 8 connects us to Interstate 84 to the north and Interstate 95 to the south. We are also linked to area communities via train and CT Transit bus service.

The town is pleased to be located along the Enterprise Corridor Zone, which provides manufacturing companies a five year abatement of 80% of their local property taxes. Additionally, for those companies not located within the Corridor Zone, Seymour offers the SMART plan which allows for a three year abatement of local taxes totaling 60%, 40% and 30% the final year. 

Our community offers our citizens a strong public school system. This provides a skilled and well educated workforce. First rate public services and facilities provide for a high standard of living. The crime rate is well below the state average, making Seymour a safe place to live and work. Whether an individual rents or owns their home, housing costs remain affordable.
