Why Choose Seymour ?

Smart and savvy business managers choose the Town of Seymour because we are located 25 minutes from Bridgeport, New Haven, and Waterbury. We are 45+ minutes from Stamford, Norwalk, Danbury and Hartford. Route 8 connects the Town of Seymour with Interstate 84 to the north, Interstate 95 to the south, the Merrit Parkway Route 15 to the south and Route 34 to the south which also leads to Interstate 91. We are also linked to regional communities via Metro-North train, Connecticut Transit bus service and the Valley Transit Service.

The Town of Seymour contains an area alongside Route 8 known as the Enterprise Corridor Zone (ECZ) which provides manufacturing companies a five year abatement of up to 80% of their local Seymour property taxes for companies serious about manufacturing. Additionally, for those companies (retail and professional oriented) not located within the Enteriprise Corridor Zone (ECZ),  the Town of Seymour offers the SMART PLAN (SP) which presently allows for a three year abatement of local Town of Seymour property taxes totaling 60%, 40% and 30% the final year. In 2012 Seymour launched a significantly enhanced retail and commerical business tax incentive plan that extends out as far as 7 years. For more information please contact Fred Messore, Seymour Economic Development Director at town hall at  203-463-3008.

The Town of Seymour believes in and offers our residents a sound quality public educational school system that has invested nearly $100 million into our schools during the past 15 years. Click the link to visit the Seymour School District's website  to learn more http://www.edline.net/pages/Seymour_Public_Schools. This investment has enabled our children to be highly competitive by developing them with 21st century skills that prepares them for either University higher education, Trade schooling or entering the workforce. Smart businesses invest in municipalities that invest into education.

The Town of Seymour has a variety of housing ranging from apartments, condominiums, starter, 55+, single family, multi-family to high-end custom built homes. Our districts are comprised of the Historic, Legacy, Downtown Orbit and Great Hill. Seymour offers extensive first rate public services, utilities and facilities that provide for a solid and quality standard of living. Seymour's crime rate is well below the Connecticut state average thus making Seymour a very safe place to reside and work.
